Why Coral Gables Homeowners Choose CWS Windows & Doors

Cws repair in Coral Gables is what Winslow Windows & Doors provides independently for CWS windows and doors throughout the city, from the Biltmore area to the Granada corridor. We’re not a CWS factory service center, and we don’t pretend to be. What we are is the local crew that has pulled, rebuilt, and reinstalled enough CWS units in Coral Gables homes to know exactly which parts fail first in this climate and how to fix them without a runaround. If you own CWS windows or doors here, call (904) 478-8983 and you’ll get one of our techs on the phone, not a call center.

Coral Gables is harder on windows than most of South Florida. The mature banyan and live oak canopy traps moisture against frames year-round, and the coastal air carries enough salt to chew through moving hardware. CWS builds a solid product, but every window line has its weak points, and knowing those weak points is what separates a real fix from a guess. That’s the service we offer.

Why Trust Winslow Windows & Doors for Your CWS Windows & Doors?

Ed Winslow founded this company in 2011, and his name is on the truck. That’s not a slogan. Ed grew up in Coconut Grove, studied building construction technology at Miami Dade College, and spent more than two decades focused on window and door replacement across Coral Gables and the surrounding neighborhoods, including CWS Windows & Doors in Little Gables, FL. His father was a finish carpenter, and that legacy shows up in the way our techs fit a replacement sash or set a new roller assembly. Precise fitment isn’t a selling point here. It’s the standard.

Our technicians work on CWS products every week, not occasionally. We know the 200 Series single hung, the 300 Series double hung, the 400 Series horizontal roller, and the 500 Series casement. More importantly, we know how each line behaves after five or ten years in Coral Gables humidity. We stock OEM-compatible parts for the common failure points and source the rest through established supply channels, so you’re not waiting weeks on a manufacturer backorder. And because we’re independent, we repair when repair makes sense and tell you plainly when it doesn’t. No brand loyalty clouding the recommendation.

Every tech who arrives at your door is background-checked and in uniform. You’ll know who’s coming before the truck parks. That’s the way Ed runs it, and after fifteen-plus years, it’s still how every job starts.

Common CWS Windows & Doors Problems We Fix in Coral Gables

  • Roller assemblies on CWS 400 Series horizontal rollers that bind or seize. Sand and salt spray from Coral Gables coastal air work into the tracks, and the rollers grind themselves down. Panels get stiff, then immovable. We replace the rollers with OEM assemblies, clean and realign the track, and the slider moves with one hand again. Our crew pulled three of these from a second-floor condo on Granada Boulevard not long ago. The rollers had disintegrated. New OEM parts, realigned tracks, done.
  • Weep hole blockage on CWS 200 and 300 Series frames. Coral Gables tree debris and wind-driven rain clog the small weep holes meant to drain water from the track. Water pools inside, the balance springs corrode, and the lower sash glass eventually fogs. We clear the weeps, replace the corroded balance hardware, and reseal the lower sash. The fix is straightforward when caught early.
  • Brittle vinyl glazing beads on older CWS models. UV exposure in this latitude turns the glazing bead brittle. When a sealed unit needs replacement, the bead cracks during removal and can’t be reused. We retrofit the frame with a compatible bead system so the new glass seats properly without leaks. Ignoring this step means the new sealed unit fails again within a season or two.
  • CWS 500 Series casement operating arms and multi-point lock gear that strip. High-humidity environments plus a little too much force on the crank, and the gear teeth wear down until the sash won’t seal. We replace the operator and lock gear, then adjust the sash so it closes square. This is one of the most common calls we get from Coral Gables homes with casement windows.
  • Bent pivot bars and shattered balances on CWS 300 Series double hungs. A window that slams shut or is forced open bends the pivot bar, and the balance can’t hold the sash. On a job in the Biltmore area, we found exactly that on a 300 Series double hung. New balance, new pivot kit, fresh weatherstripping, and the window locks tight and stops rattling during afternoon thunderstorms.

CWS Parts & Our Repair-vs-Replace Approach

We prefer OEM CWS hardware for anything that moves: rollers, locks, balances, operators. Aftermarket clones for those parts often bind or misalign, and saving a few dollars on a roller assembly isn’t worth a slider that still sticks. For glass and weatherstripping, quality aftermarket sealed units and pile seals perform as well as original and keep repair costs down. We’d rather see you spend money on what matters than on a brand stamp.

The repair-versus-replace call is honest, even when honesty costs us a bigger invoice. We recommend full replacement or our Window Installation services only when the frame is cracked, bowed, or the wood corners are rotted. A fogged glass unit in an otherwise sound CWS frame doesn’t require a new window. It requires a new sealed unit and a properly fitted bead. That’s what we’ll tell you, and we’ll show you the frame condition so you can see the logic yourself.

Call (904) 478-8983 to talk through what you’re seeing, or to schedule a service visit.

Our CWS Service Process - Step by Step

  1. 1
Diagnosis. We inspect the unit in place, identify the CWS model and the specific failure, and check the surrounding frame, track, and seal. No guesswork, no vague “it needs a tune-up.” You get a clear explanation of what’s wrong and what it takes to fix it.
  2. 2
Repair or install. We replace worn rollers, balances, operators, locks, or glass using OEM CWS hardware for moving parts and quality aftermarket materials where appropriate. On full replacements, we spec impact-rated units that meet Miami-Dade HVHZ requirements and match the original opening.
  3. 3
Testing. Every window and door gets cycled multiple times, checked for square closure, proper drainage, and smooth operation. We don’t leave until the unit moves the way it should. That’s the standard, not a promise.
  4. 4
Warranty coverage. Our workmanship is backed by the Done Right Promise. If it’s not done right, we make it right. That’s a lasting standard, and it means exactly what it says. Ed’s name is on it.

CWS Products We Service & Install in Coral Gables

We service and install the full CWS residential lineup commonly found in Coral Gables homes: the 200 Series single hung, 300 Series double hung, 400 Series horizontal roller, and 500 Series casement. Our emphasis in this market is horizontal roller and sliding Impact Windows, hurricane impact windows throughout the home, and full frame replacement when an existing opening has deteriorated past repair. We keep common CWS hardware in local stock, which means faster turnaround on the repairs Coral Gables owners ask for most.

We Also Service These Brands

Winslow Windows & Doors is not a single-brand shop. We’re authorized installers for PGT, CGI, ES Windows, and ECO Window Systems, among others. If your Coral Gables home has a mix of brands, we can handle the whole project without farming work out to a subcontractor or telling you to call someone else.

What Neighbors Say About Winslow Windows & Doors

★★★★★

"We sat out a hurricane behind the windows Ed put in. The gusts threw a neighbour's trampoline down the street and the loudest thing in our house was the kettle. I rang him after to say thank you and he answered his own phone, same as always."

TThaddeus Okonkwo
★★★★★

"Ed measured every opening himself and walked me through the product approval paperwork before I signed anything. When the inspector came he found the notice of acceptance taped inside a window like it should be and passed us first visit."

RRosalind Beaumont
★★★★★

"A tile roof repair and new windows from the same company meant one crew, one permit runner, and nobody blaming the other trade. Ed checked the roof work himself before the tarp came off."
